Donna Snyder-Smith

We are pleased to have Donna return for another Center Riding clinic at the Bitterroot August 22-29. A lifetime devoted to the study and practice of the equestrian arts has made Donna one of today's premier teachers; a master instructor of the bio-mechanics of effortless, effective riding. Her own equestrian education exposed her to instructors on two continents, including such innovative, far-reaching technique teachers as Sally Swift (Centered Riding), Linda Tellington-Jones (TTEAM), well-known experts such as Jack LeGoffe (3-Day) Anders Lindgren & Herman Friedlaender (dressage), and Monte Foreman (reining). A successful competitive career during the sixties and seventies included awards in open jumping, eventing, dressage, western pleasure and endurance, and laid the foundation for her understanding of the precise needs of riders from multiple disciplines. Her remarkable ability to effectively teach, clarify and refine the mechanical skills of important foundation work to riders of all levels, insures the success of her students and clinic participants.

In recent years she has focused her coaching efforts in the endurance field where her many successful clients include World Champions Valerie Kanavy and Danielle McGunigal, Tevis winner Dr. Judy Reens, and Pan Am Team Silver Medalist, Tracy Webb-Hoskins, along with international clients from Canada, Great Britain, and the UAE. Past clients have been award winners in both the English and western divisions at open and breed shows as diverse as the Cow Palace, Ram Tap, the National Paint Horse Show and the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.

A caring, straightforward demeanor and an understanding that even the most successful riders start their climb to the top from the bottom rung of the ladder, quickly make even inexperienced and nervous riders feel at home with her.

Donna is also the author of the book "The Complete Guide to Endurance Riding & Competition".
