Dressage is also a French word meaning “training”. The fundamental purpose of dressage is to teach the horse and rider specific gymnastic movements through progressive training methods. It is designed to increase the horses’ natural athletic ability, to become responsive and light to aids, to be light in their movements plus increase their willingness to perform. Dressage is also referred to as “Horse Ballet” as the goal is to perform these maneuvers smoothly and effortlessly while remaining relaxed and responding lightly to a skilled rider’s aids.

Sylvia Loch - Classical Dressage - Sylvia has been riding and practicing the art of Classical Dressage for some 30 years. In addition, she is also a trainer, teacher, writer, video producer, lecturer, and the Founder of the Lusitano Breed Society of Great Britain and the Classical Riding Club.
