Livestock, Gardening and Farming on the Ranch

Bitterroot Ranch from Hadley, Rainie Bob

Bitterroot cowboss Bob Miller enjoying an evening with guests after a day of gathering cattle.

The ranch is not just a guest facility but also maintains a vibrant agricultural operation. This is not a resort experience, instead as a guest you will see and sometimes take part in the day to day activities of a working western ranch. Much of the produce served by the kitchen comes from our vegetable garden and in addition to the larger herd of Angus cattle, the ranch maintains a herd of registered Scottish Highland cattle, well known for their delicious and healthy lean beef. The lamb served at the ranch also comes from ranch sheep. The winters are long in Wyoming and in order to be self-sufficient we grow a considerable amount of hay and grain to feed our horses and cattle.
